Dance for Peace

pop-up community resilience events in Colorado

✨ don't dance to perform

✨ dance to feel

✨ dance to express

✨ dance to love

✨ dance for peace

We watch the monks Walk for Peace. We see their dog, Aloka, wagging his tail. We walk alongside them in spirit because we believe in peace, we crave it.

But we cannot walk with the monks and their dog. Our lives are here, in Colorado. Our presence is needed here in our families and in our communities...and yet we yearn for a way to connect with others like us, a way that doesn't require the time and distance of Walking for Peace.

To Dance for Peace is to collapse time and space through presence, process, and movement. Together we will enjoy the comfort of experiences that are gently but intentionally designed for people to land exactly as they are, to meet each other and connect without attachment, and dance like no one is watching.

Let's put down our phones; close our computers.

Step onto the Earth.

And let ourselves be wild and free to feel, to express ourselves, and to move.

It isn't sustainable for most people to keep pressing forward for hour upon hour, day after day.

Peace comes when we take a break from the grind, make space for the messy truth, and allow every facet of our being the grace to simply be exactly as it is (no matter how loud or quiet it may be).

DANCE FOR PEACE is designed with these things in mind because resilience is built dynamically, by changing, stretching, folding back into ourselves, and growing together.

So when we Dance for Peace together we will go:

From anxious to anchored.

From turned off to turned on.

From getting it right to getting it true.

From being alone to being together.

In order to do this, I offer:

+ a simple process that can be done anytime and anywhere

+ locations that connect humans to nature and to each other

While the men of Dhammacetiya Walk for Peace, showing us the divinity in repetition, quiet contemplation, and provide the linear direction toward peace, we will radiate peace multidimensionally and in ways that are intentionally, strategically, emergent.

Together we will:

let feelings emerge

let movement emerge

let truth emerge

let community emerge

let love emerge

let peace emerge

This isn't rocket science. It is moving our bodies. I don't own it; but I can facilitate, bring magic, and lead by example. I am undeniably someone who shows up to do the work. And the work right now is for me to show up and dance. Will you dance with me?

In 2026, people will be Dancing for Peace in Colorado.

Will you be one of us?

FAQs

What does this cost?

It costs zero dollars but, lets be real, it costs you time and energy and vulnerability.

Are you going to try to sell me something?

No.

I can't dance.

Neither can I. "Dance" is a term I use loosely. What I mean by "dance" is to let the music into your body and let it move you. We're not performing for each other here. We're reclaiming our right to play and have fun while music is playing without having to worry about what other people think.

Rest assured - I look like a maniac sometimes, so you can too.

Where will Dance for Peace events be held?

I generally spend time in Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Erie, and Denver. So you can expect me to be popping up in those places.

How can I find out more?

All info will be shared in the Dance for Peace Discord server.

I have created an online place in Discord for a few reasons: 1) for me to post event details ahead of time, 2) for us to connect during the time in between events, and 3) I have 12 different apps for connecting with communities and Discord is, by far, my favorite because it is the easiest, best, and prettiest one, it isn't part of the Metaverse or Google, and it is free to use.

You have to request an invitation to the Discord server from me (Esme) or from someone else who is already in it. (Click the "Join the Community" button at the top of the page and look for emails from me.)

Safety & Engagement

I am committed to creating safe and engaging spaces for all People.

Racism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, body shaming, neurotype shaming, and misogyny will not be tolerated or ignored.

If any of this makes you think twice, this space is not for you!
